Questions are the answer
We know that these three words describe the type of person you are and your attitude towards getting things done.
They are rare and highly admirable traits, and without a doubt, your business wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without them… It’s a shame more people in the world don’t display these traits.
However, these traits can become roadblocks over a period of time depending upon what direction you want to take your company.
Therefore you need to ask yourself one question: Do I want to grow my company to its maximum potential, or am I cool with it remaining the size it is today?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. It is 100% personal choice. However, if you choose the path of most resistance, the path of max potential, these traits need to be managed.
Liability
Being stubborn can lead to an ‘I know best’ mentality. Being determined can lead to a ‘My was is always best’ attitude, and being relentless will make you force your way on everything.
Why is that a problem? Because growth requires change, and change requires being wrong, failing, and trying new things, all of which a difficult to do when you don’t listen.
If you want to take your business to a level it’s never been before, you will have to learn, adapt, employ, build, and innovate in ways that you cannot comprehend right now.
If you want to create change, you will have to change. Personally, professionally, and philosophically (sorry, I know that sounds deep), none of these things are possible if you’re too stubborn.
Conclusion
Being stubborn determined relentless is a good thing! You don’t need to remove these traits to grow your company, but you need to manage them.
Left unchecked, these traits can become ingrained in your personality, and that’s not a good thing. These traits will start to control you instead of you controlling them.
Keep them in your back pocket and when a situation arises that you’ve established that requires some stubborn, determined, and relentless work, passion or drive, go for it! However, remember to turn them off when the jobs done…
Program vs. Podcast?
The Construction MPa Program is an entirely different beast than the Construction MPa Podcast. However, it was ultimately built with the same end goal in mind, too:
A) Help small business owners strengthen their businesses themselves via a step-by-step process.
B) To provide a home for small business owners to openly discuss the challenges they face in a sales and bullshit-free environment.
